What is VAV?

VAV (Variable Air Volume) is a pressure independent HVAC system that offers precise air flow in designed areas. It is typically used in the following applications:

When operating correctly, VAV systems offer an energy efficient solution to fresh air supply, heating and cooling demands. VAV is a technically unique system and many maintenance companies and consultants have limited or no knowledge of its operation. Without specialist knowledge of the best approach to upgrading a VAV system, upgrades could be non-cohesive and technically inferior, reducing reliability and costing you more money in the long run.

There can be a temptation to replace a VAV system at the first sign of failure, but with specialist advice you can limit replacements to specific components, hugely reducing your repair bill.

Many Belimo VAV products are backwardly compatible with previous VAV actuators and controllers, so typically you won’t have to remove all the existing components to get the system working effectively again.
